Dixie County Released Mugshot Records
A booking photograph records the image an agency associated with an arrest or custody episode. Florida generally treats a booking photo as a public record unless a specific exemption, court order, seal, or expunction changes access. Florida Attorney General Opinion 94-90 addressed an arrest report with its booking photograph as generally disclosable, subject to law. That rule does not mean every image must be released without redaction or that a photo remains online forever.
Release and photo availability are separate facts. DCSO may remove or stop returning a live booking card after the person’s status changes. The underlying record may still exist under the agency’s retention rules. A state-prison photograph belongs to the FDC episode, not necessarily the Dixie County Jail booking. A dated registry image serves a narrow statutory registry. Each image must be linked back to its agency, date, and record context.

Find Dixie County Released Mugshots
Begin with the agency that created the image. A name on an old commercial mirror or news page is only a discovery lead. It should not replace the sheriff, FDC, court, VINE, or other official source. Dixie County has no verified public released-photo gallery and no official jail app that advertises a photo search. The available paths differ in both scope and permanence.

Photo identity deserves care. Compare a booking or DC number, date of birth, booking date, agency, and case number when available. A shared name is not enough. An old photo may also fail to reflect a person’s current appearance.
Dixie County Jail Mugshot Search
The DCSO SmartWEB Arrest Search is the primary local online photo source. Returned cards can show a thumbnail and an “Enlarge Photo” action with name, booking number, MNI number, booking date, status, charge, case, and bond fields. On the research date, the public page defaulted to “BOOKED Last 24 Hours.” That is a booking view, not a released-person gallery.
A booking card that still appears must be read by its displayed status and access date. Its presence does not prove conviction. Its absence does not prove release, erasure, or that DCSO no longer holds the booking image. SmartWEB publishes no refresh interval, removal delay, photo archive, or online retention promise. The public form also lacks a labeled released-photo search.

The screen supports a recent booking-photo search. It does not support the claim that every released Dixie County inmate photo remains available there.
The official DCSO information page links a Facebook page, but social posts are not a complete booking-photo archive. No verified DCSO jail-information mobile app was identified. Do not substitute an unrelated vendor app or assume a generic jail app carries Dixie records. Request Dixie County Booking Photos
A focused records request is the main fallback after a SmartWEB card disappears. DCSO’s Records Division accepts requests in person at the Sheriff’s Office in the Dixie County Courthouse, 214 NE 351 Highway, Suite L. Mail goes to Dixie County Sheriff’s Office, PO Box 470, Cross City, FL 32628, with a sufficient self-addressed stamped envelope. The published phone is (352) 498-1220.
- Identify the person with full name and known aliases. Add date of birth or booking/MNI number when known.
- Give the booking date and episode. Ask specifically for the booking photograph, not an undefined “inmate report.”
- Request electronic delivery when available and ask for a cost estimate before extensive work.
- If DCSO withholds or redacts material, ask for the statutory basis in writing with particularity.
- Keep the returned agency response with the image so its source and date remain clear.
DCSO publishes no local booking-photo fee or guaranteed turnaround. Chapter 119 default copy charges and reasonable special-service costs may apply. The agency states that an under-investigation case will not be returned and that notice will be sent by mail. Other identity and privacy exemptions can also require redaction.

Dixie County State Release Photos
The FDC Inmate Release Information Search may show a photograph for someone who served a Florida state-prison sentence. Search by the six-character DC number for the best match. If using a name, compare aliases, physical details, offense county, case, sentence, and incarceration history. FDC’s photo belongs to the state record and may not be the image taken at Dixie County Jail.

The release date and Date Out-Custody can confirm the state episode. They do not explain every earlier or later county booking.
The FDLE Sexual Offender and Predator Registry and the state career-offender registry also can show dated images, but each covers a narrow group defined by law. A registry no-match says nothing about an ordinary released detainee. VINELink may display imagery supplied by a participating agency, yet it is a custody and notification service, not a permanent photo store.
BOP’s locator is not a booking-photo source. The U.S. Marshals Service also limits public release of federal-prisoner photographs. For federal custody, a release-status locator and court file may exist even when no official public image channel does.
Dixie County Mugshot Retention
Florida’s GS2 records schedule separates online visibility from agency retention. Item 16 describes booking records that can contain booking numbers, charges, release methods, and scheduled-release data. Item 53 covers inmate incarceration records, including booking cards and property or transfer material. These record series have a minimum retention of one anniversary year after release. A particular agency may keep records longer, and another schedule or law may control a given copy.
That minimum does not promise that a photo will remain on SmartWEB. It supports asking DCSO whether the booking image remains in the relevant record series. A court seal, expunction, active-investigation exemption, protected identity, or other law can alter access. If a portal no longer displays a photo, use the official request process rather than trying to reconstruct material that may be restricted.
Can Dixie County Mugshots Be Removed?
Dixie’s live cards have thumbnails and enlarge-photo links, but DCSO publishes no released-photo gallery and no promise about how long a card stays online. Florida section 901.43 creates a specific path against covered commercial entities. It is not a blanket rule requiring DCSO to erase the source booking photograph.
A pictured person or legal representative may send a written removal request by registered mail to the covered entity’s registered agent, with enough identity information and detail to identify the photograph. A covered entity must remove the image without charge within ten calendar days and may not republish or redisseminate it. The definition matters. The statute targets entities that seek or accept removal payment or whose main business model is commercial booking-photo publication. It does not automatically control every ordinary news publisher or government record custodian.

The statute addresses covered commercial publication. It does not prove that the original Dixie County record is sealed or expunged.
Dixie County Mugshots After Expunction
Florida sealing and expunction can change official access. A Certificate of Eligibility is only a prerequisite. Relief takes effect after a court enters the qualifying order and FDLE receives the certified order. Under section 943.0585, court-ordered expunction generally directs qualifying criminal-history records held by criminal-justice agencies to be destroyed or obliterated as the statute provides, while FDLE retains a confidential exempt copy. Section 943.059 sealing keeps the qualifying record but makes it confidential and exempt subject to listed exceptions.
A dismissal does not automatically erase a Dixie County booking photo. Not every case qualifies. An order affecting official records also does not ensure that every independent copy already held elsewhere vanishes at once. Use the FDLE seal and expunge process and the issuing court record to determine the scope of an actual order. Respect a portal restriction rather than seeking another copy of protected material.
